WHAT DOES THIS TELL US?
More than two-thirds of the Bühlmann community are Craftsmen, Navigators or Problem Solvers.
Different personalities, but with something important in common:
Understand the situation. Stay practical. Adapt when necessary.
Perhaps that's not a coincidence.
Many people in our community are divers, engineers, watch enthusiasts and people accustomed to environments where preparation and good judgement matter.
Diving training in particular teaches a simple discipline:
Plan. Observe. Adapt. Act.
ONLY 9% ARE EXPLORERS.
For a community built around diving and exploration, that sounds counter-intuitive. Or perhaps it isn't.
Exploration may take you into the unknown.
Preparation, judgement and adaptability bring you home.
THERE IS SOMETHING VERY BÜHLMANN ABOUT THAT.
Professor Albert A. Bühlmann spent his life trying to make the unknown manageable.
He studied what happens to the human body under pressure, developed mathematical models, tested them against reality and continuously refined them.
Analyse. Engineer. Test. Adapt.
More than half a century later, perhaps it shouldn't surprise us that so many of the people attracted to his story approach pressure in much the same way.
The Bühlmann Challenge is, of course, not a scientific psychological study.
But it has given us an intriguing glimpse into the people who make up our community.
And we rather like what we discovered.
